Hello, the stem has gone brown. But there's been a new leaf! And she's continued to grow as the stem got more brown and dry. Is this just what happens when it's wintertime? Does it need more water? I water it around once a week. Is she dying? Can I do anything? I've attached photos. She's flowered this year and the brown stem started happening about a week after the flowers fell. If that gives you any more information. She's usually in filtered light. But I do give her full sun occasionally.

Your orchid is OK! It's totally normal for the flower spike to die back once the blooms are done, it's time for her to go into vegetative mode and focus on her leaves and roots. You can trim the dry stem at the base. It does look like she has a bunch of dead roots on the surface, though, so if you know she's been in that pot a while, I think it would be a good time to take her out, trim the dead roots off, and repot her in fresh medium. On YouTube, MissOrchidGirl has great videos on Phalaenopsis care and on how to repot them! They're kinda long tho so I watch them at 1.5x speed lol
@Manu Rosales bless thank you ๐๐๐
This is why I don't like orchids.
@Headmaster Freedem only reason I keep it is because it a gift from my mom. I'm not getting more though ๐ญ๐ญ
Loll nooo orchids are amazing! Most of the ones you can easily pick up are no more delicate than the average house plant! They got some quirks (esp what they grow in and how theyโre watered) but once thatโs figured out you realize the possibilities and become obsessed and want them all ๐
